Happy Birthday to my mom

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. (Hebrews 12:1)

Happy Birthday to my mom! Thank you for encouraging me through every difficult trial, affirming the cloud of witnesses that went with us, and cheering me on to run with perseverance the race marked out for us. I love you.

I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. (Psalm 9:2)

My son, I am so proud of who you are! Your faith is in Him and you listen to His calling. You are always happy and work hard to make those around you happy to. You have so many God given gifts and will share them with the world. I love you!

Happy Birthday to my brother

morning sunrise

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” (Romans 8:15)

You have such a strong spirit, and you always encourage those around you and bring strength to us. I am so proud of you, of your family, and of the path that you are all on. You follow where God leads and are always ready to handle whatever He places in front of you. I love you.

From this day forward…

Jesus answered, “Surely you have read this in the Scriptures: When God made the world, ‘he made people male and female.’ And God said, ‘That is why a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife. And the two people will become one.’ So they are no longer two, but one. God has joined them together, so no one should separate them.” (Matthew 19:4-6)

To my son and his bride on their wedding day. God has blessed me with the chance to raise you, in His purpose and in His plans, for this moment. As I raised you, my son, my focus was consistently on the goal of raising a man who, I prayed, would become a husband and a father.  You are perfectly called to this marriage, and perfectly prepared, in your faith, for this moment and for your future. Your faith will see you through the challenges that come as all travel this road. I will pray for your marriage from this day forward, and I can’t wait to see all that God has in store for both of you.

From this day forward, I will bless you. (Haggai 2:19)

Happy Birthday to my father

Psalm 46 10

God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel. (Acts 5:31)

Happy Birthday to my father. Thank you for teaching me about repentance and forgiveness. These are life lessons that will carry me through and that we have both passed on to my children. I love you!

My birthday post

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

That is my birth verse, and I have tried to emulate it in all of the circumstances that God allows in my life. Today I wrote a birthday post for each of my family members. Today I am home, writing, and the jury is out deliberating on the charges that I have been held to answer for. I answered, defended myself in truth, and prayerfully considered each step of the process. And like my life verse requires, I give thanks in all circumstances, even this.

I give thanks that I know that God allowed this circumstance. I give thanks that it allowed me to rest on my faith, to depend squarely on Him for this and whatever follows. I give thanks that we used the trial and the experience to encourage others. I give thanks for the jury who deliberated carefully and thoroughly, despite their findings. I give thanks for my family who supported me every step of the way and my attorney who faithfully blazed the path. I give thanks for a God who loves me and a bright future! And wherever I am when this posts is published I will be giving thanks in those circumstances.

Glorious things…

Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. (Isaiah 12:5)

A very special friend of mine is celebrating his birthday today, and this post, written well in advance, is to honor him.  Have you ever met someone who can relate so closely to a challenge that you’ve walked through that you just thank God for sending that person to you at that very moment? He’s that guy…and we had a Divine Appointment that carried me through the most difficult and dark time of my life. He’s pretty great…

Difficulties and obstacles are challenge our faith. But they are our lesson plan. In these darkest and challenging times we will glean insight, perspective, and a chance to draw near to God and lean on our faith like never before.  These crisis points become the platform of our mission- they are the gems in our crown.

God has a plan for our lives- it’s all mapped out. Our only responsibility is to say yes to His call and to remain obedient to His plan, regardless of where that takes us- even if it is to our own personal Ninevah (click here to read more about how to recognize your own Ninevah). He equips us with exactly what we need to honor our calling. He goes with us. Our job is simply to say “yes, God”.

I’m sharing the song “Flawless” by MercyMe today, in honor of the birthday guy, because when I hear this song he always comes to mind (click here to listen).
